MASON CITY — Plans are underway to welcome home the Iowa National Guard’s 1133rd Transportation Company based out of Mason City and Iowa City soon.

The Iowa National Guard says they are excited to announce the homecoming of the 1133rd, which consists of about 160 soldiers, which was deployed to Poland on November 6th of last year. The mission focused on providing critical logistical support, transportation services, and assistance to the local communities during times of need.

During their deployment, the 1133rd showcased their exceptional skills, adaptability, and teamwork logging more than 1.5 million miles driven over the course of 10 months.

The Iowa National Guard says the official homecoming ceremony to mark the return of the soldiers will take place later this year, but they expect families, friends and community members will be able to welcome soldiers home in the very near future.
